Royal Hampshire Regiment Collection

The 67th (South Hants) Regiment of Foot successfully stormed the North Taku Fort on 21 August 1860, an engagement which quickly led to the fall of Tianjin and the end of the Second Opium War. The regiment spent four years in China, later supporting the Qing against the Taiping rebels. The forty-seven images in the Royal Hampshire Regiment Collection are held in the Royal Hampshire Regiment Museum, and complement the George Atchison Collection. Album RH01 was compiled by Colonel John Eyles Blundell. See blogs by Dr Andrew Hillier on Images of War and Regimental Memory and Regimental cartes de visite.
