Cooper, William Collection
William Boyd Cooper was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1878. Around 1910, he was appointed Professor of Commerce at Peking University, where he lectured in English and French. Cooper was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Chinese Labour Corps on 12th February 1917 and served in France with the Corps. He rose to be a captain, then relinquished his Commission in 1919. William Cooper and his family returned from China and settled in Wimbledon, London.
