Daniel Jerome MacGowan M.D. (1815-1893) was an American Baptist medical missionary and US Vice Consul at Ningbo. MacGowan collaborated with the mathematician Hua Hengfang (華蘅芳)(1833–1902) on translations of Charles Lyell’s ‘Elements of Geology’ and James Dwight Dana’s ‘Manual of Minerology’.
