Empress Dowager Cixi (慈禧太后, Cíxǐ Tàihòu, Tz'u-Hsi T'ai-hou) (1835 – 1908), is sitting in the middle of this group, which includes Empress Longyu, Concubine Jin, Princess Derling, Derling's mother, wife of Cixi's nephew, Prince Qing's third and fourth daughters, Li Lianying and others, in Zhonghai, Beihai Park (Beihai Gongyuan), Peking (Beijing). Cixi is in the guise of Guanyin, the godess of mercy - and surrounded by lotus flowers. Photograph by Xunling (Xun Ling).
