University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Tr02-194. H.M.S. Renown was launched in March 1916, being the lead ship of its class of Royal Navy battlecruisers. The Renown played an important role in both world wars and was sold for scrap in 1948. This photograph was taken when the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII) visited Hong Kong on board the Renown, during his tour to India and the Far East in 1922.
