University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: NA30-175. Weihai (威海), formerly known as Weihaiwei (威海衛) was under British rule as a leased territory from 1898 until 1930. The consulate in the photograph was established after the territory returned to Chinese rule in 1930.
