University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: ML01-d02. In 1952, Hsiao Li Lindsay (1916-2010) became Lady Lindsay of Birker. Hsiao Li Lindsay is the author of 'Bold Plum, with the Guerrillas in China's War against Japan' (2007). The book she is holding is open at a page showing a Charles Bargue (1825-1883) print of a Renaissance-era man with a Tudor flat cap. Michael Lindsay's father, Alexander Dunlop Lindsay, was Master of Balliol College, University of Oxford. See ML01-d01 and ML01-d40.
