University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Sw23-005. Khaki cloth Kodak Negative Album, 12 cm x 16 cm. 161 negatives (sized 3.25 inches x 5.5 inches, 92mm x 147mm). The album was later labelled P1/XI on the back cover.  Most likely, this photograph shows steam arising from salt wells as the water is evaporated (i.e. condensing salt).  See Sw23-004, Sw23-006, and Sw29-153.
