University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Sw03-067. G W Swire referenced each negative in this album with the prefix C written in India ink. This negative is referenced C54. The album itself has also been archived at some stage with the reference P1/II. The steamer on the left is either CNC's first NEWCHWANG (sold in 1912) or the first WENCHOW (sold in 1922). These are only the fifth and sixth cargo ships to be built for CNC. The steamer on the right is one of the ANHUI class (1903, 1904).
