Notes

University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: Ro-n0929. The large steamship is the 'Wusueh' (武穴), owned by the China Navigation Company. Her name has been painted out to highlight the more important new sign "British Merchant Ship" (with extra Union Jacks visible). The 'Wusueh' survived World War II, serving as a hospital ship, and went on to become the communication ship HMS 'Ladybird' in the Korean War.  In June 1953 she was sold for breaking up in Hong Kong. The houseboat on the right is named as 'TSING ZIANG'.
