Photo from an album (UoB reference Os05) kept in the School of Oriental and African Studies Archives, London (SOAS reference MS 380 876/5). No caption in the album for this wedding group. It is most probable that the bride is Cynthia (Bunch) Nina Grattan Guinness Oswald and the groom Robert (Bob) Oakman Sutherland, a merchant. The bridesmaids second and third from the left are, respectively, Betty Helbling (1911-1938) and Evelyn Theodora Oswald, née Helbling (1908-1999). The reception was held at Tai Hing, the Oswald’s house in Fuzhou. John Oswald is standing on the far right. See Os05-154.
