Subject: American Calvin Wilson Mateer was a Presbyterian missionary in Shandong province, China, from 1864-1908. He established Tengchow College, which later became Shantung Christian University, translated textbooks, and edited the Mandarin Bible. Provenance: Purchased from Lucy Drew, 1949.
