University of Bristol - Historical Photographs of China reference number: EB-s0043. The captioning in Chinese on this post card reads 天津八里台望海寺：Wanghai temple, Balitai, Tianjin. The bell was presented to Viceroy Li Hung-chang (Li Hongzhang) by the Krupp Iron Works. After the Boxer Uprising, it was placed on a concrete base in Victoria Park and used as a fire or alarm bell. See Gr01-018, JC-s054 and NA02-13.
