Pickens Jr., Rev Claude L. Collection

The photographs form part of a large collection built up by Pickens (1900-1985) and his wife, Elizabeth Zwemer Pickens, missionaries working with the China Inland Mission who had an interest in Hui (Han Chinese Muslims). In 1933 and in 1936, Pickens and other missionaries undertook surveys of Hui, Tibetan and others groups in Western China. A total of 1,079 photographs are online here.
